The Maritime Training Center

The Maritime Training Center is a subsidiary of AIDT.  This facility was designed specifically to meet the growing demand for industrial related training for the southern region of Alabama.  Our intent is to provide job seekers with the qualifications and skills needed to join the growing maritime industry, as well as to meet the needs of related industries throughout Alabama.  We are a multipurpose training and education facility, featuring high bay welding shops, classrooms, and a computer lab.  We are an NCCER accredited training unit under the Gulf States Shipbuilders Consortium.

Now Accepting Applications for Welding Night Class

The Maritime Training Center is now accepting applications for welding night class beginning August 26, 2013. Applications will be accepted from May 20, 2013-July 14, 2013. Welding night class is a 17 week course that teaches flux core, stick, aluminum, and all aspects of shipfitting. The course also includes OSHA 10 Maritime and soft skills. After successful completion of the course and specific modules, students will receive an NCCER certificate. Classes are at no cost and limited to 32 students. Proof of high school diploma or GED required.

Now Accepting Applications for TIG Plate & Pipe

The Maritime Training Center is now accepting applications for TIG plate & pipe class beginning August 12, 2013. Applications will be accepted from may 20, 2013-July 21, 2013. This is a 14 week course held Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 6-10 p.m. Must have one year experience welding and be currently employed as a welder.

Now Accepting Applications for Pipefitting Level 1 & 2

The Maritime Training Center is now accepting applications for pipefitting level 1 & 2 class beginning August 12, 2013. Applications will be accepted from May 20, 2013-July 21, 2013. This is a 14 week course held Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 6-10 p.m. Must have completed an MTC welding class or have experience as a shipfitting or pipefitting helper and be currently employed.

Now Accepting Applications for Level 2, Level 3, and Advanced Topics Welding

The Maritime Training Center is now accepting applications for Level 2 Welding, Level 3 Welding, and Welding: Advanced Topics classes. Classes begin August 26, 2013 and will be held Monday-Thursday, 6-10 p.m. for 17 weeks. Applications will be accepted May 20, 2013-July 14, 2013.

Prerequisites for Level 2 Welding include completion of Core and Level 1 Welding. Click here to apply for Level 2 Welding.
