The Maritime Training Center

The Maritime Training Center is a subsidiary of AIDT.  This facility was designed specifically to meet the growing demand for industrial related training for the southern region of Alabama.  Our intent is to provide job seekers with the qualifications and skills needed to join the growing maritime industry, as well as to meet the needs of related industries throughout Alabama.  We are a multipurpose training and education facility, featuring high bay welding shops, classrooms, and a computer lab.  We are an NCCER accredited training unit under the Gulf States Shipbuilders Consortium.

Now Accepting Applications for Welding Day & Night Classes

The Maritime Training Center is now accepting applications for welding night class beginning Aug. 20, 2012.  Applications will be accepted from March 14, 2012-Jul. 10, 2012.  Welding night class is a 15 week course that teaches flux core machine, stick, aluminum, and all aspects of shipfitting.  The course also includes OSHA 10 hour Maritime and soft skills.  After successful completion of the course and specific modules, students will receive an NCCER certificate. Classes are free, and limited to 32 students.

We are also accepting applications for welding day class beginning Sept. 24, 2012.  Applications will be accepted from May 7, 2012-Aug. 12, 2012.  Welding day class is a 12 week course that teaches flux core machine, stick, aluminum, and all aspects of shipfitting.  The course also includes OSHA 10 hour Maritime and soft skills.  After successful completion of the course and specific modules, students will receive an NCCER certificate.  Classes are free, and limited to 32 students.

Now Accepting Applications for Level 2 Pipefitting Classes

The Maritime Training Center is now accepting applications for Level 2 Pipefitting classes. Classes will be held Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 6:00-9:30 p.m. Individuals may apply.  Prerequisite is Level 1 Pipefitting. Once the applications are reviewed, selected applicants will be notified by phone.  Classes are free, and limited to 16 students.
