Staff

The Maritime Training Center Staff is among the most qualified assembly of maritime instructors in the state of Alabama.  Members of the staff possess certifications from the American Welding Society as Certified Welding Inspectors, Certified Welding Instructors, and Certified Welding Educators.  Staff members are certified to instruct overhead crane, rigging, forklift, manlift, and scaffolding.  We also have staff that is certified by OSHA to instruct the 10-hour Maritime Course.

Our staff members have between 5-35 years of experience in welding and shipfitting.  They are eager to meet the needs of not just the industry, but also your company and employees.

 

 Tony

TONY HOPPER | PROJECT MANAGER

Tony Hopper is the Project Manager here at the Maritime Training Center. He is a member of the American Welding Society. He is a Certified Welding Supervisor (CWS), a Certified Welding Inspector (CWI), a Certified Welding Educator (CWE), and a certieid NCCER (National Center for Construction Education and Research) Master Trainer. He has traveled throughout the United States, Europe, Asia, and China as a welding supervisor and trainer and has over 30 years of welding experience.

Darrell

DARRELL BRYANT | INSTRUCTOR

Darrell Bryant is an instructor here at the Maritime Training Center.  He has over 30 years of welding experience.  Darrell is a certified NCCER Craft Trainer and has also been certified by the Scaffold Training Institute.  He has been a Certified Welding Inspector and a member of the American Welding Society since 1999.

Troy

TROY COCHRAN | INSTRUCTOR

Troy Cochran is an instructor here at the Maritime Training Center.  He is a certified NCCER Craft Trainer.  He is also certified by the Crane Institute of America, Inc., in forklift & aerial lifts, and a member of the American Welding Society and Certified Welding Inspector (CWI). He has over 10 years of welding experience.

Donnie

DONNIE JEMISON | INSTRUCTOR

Donnie Jemison is an instructor here at the Maritime Training Center. He is a member of the American Welding Society.  He is a Certified Welding Inspector (CWI), and a Certified Welding Educator (CWE)/Welding and Shipfitting.  He has over 30 years of welding experience.  He is a certified NCCER Craft Trainer.

Gerald

GERALD McCRANIE | INSTRUCTOR

Gerald McCranie is an NCCER Certified Craft Trainer with over 38 years of welding experience.  He was a CWI for 18 years and is a member of the American Welding Society.

Tim

TIM WILSON | INSTRUCTOR

Tim Wilson is an instructor here at the Maritime Training Center.  He has 35 years of industrial welding experience as well as 6 years of instructing at the community college level.  He is a certified NCCER Craft Trainer and a CWI.

BYRON VINES

Jackie is ASNT certified Level III in MT, PT, & VT; ACCP certified Level III MT & PT, Level II VT & UT. He is currently pursuing Level III UT certification. He is also a member of the Ameican Welding Society, a CWS, SCWI, and CWE. He owns Morris Marine Consulting LLC, and is under contract with the State of Alabama to provide training services for DOD contractors in accordance with Navsea & Military standards for welding and NDT. He has also developed several manuals, including a company NDT manual approved by the US Navy and American Bureau of Shipping.  He was the quality manager for a large shipyard for 33+ years, with experience in both government and commercial contracts.     Byron is currently a Senior Deputy Director of Quality in the aerospace industry.  He is responsible for providing management, leadership, and direction to the Nondestructive Testing, Dimensional Measurement, and M&P Laboratory programs.  He has previously worked for Naval Aviation Depot at NAS Pensacola as NDT Program Manager, and has developed various novel and unique inspection techniques with an emphasis on minimizing personnel exposure. He holds a BA in Nondestructive Testing Technology, and is a certified ASNT Level III in MT, UT, PT, ET, and RT.
