Course Description

Nondestructive Testing-Ultrasonic Testing course covers various topics, including:

  • Introduction to Ultrasonic Testing
  • Qualification and Certification
  • Basic Principles of Acoustics
  • Transducer Operation and Theory
  • Principles of Ultrasonics
  • Testing Techniques
  • Calibrating Transducers
  • Ultrasonic Testing Applications Level 1
  • Evaluation Standards

Course Objective

  • Learn the theory, operating procedure, and application of industrial ultrasonic inspection
  • Choose equipment and methods to use for various applications and document inspection results
  • Detect flaws of the severity considered detectable by conventional straight beam industrial applications when operating according to given proven inspection parameters
  • Calibrate angle beam inspection systems.

Course Prerequisite

Students must be 18 years old, be eligible to work in the United States, and have completed the course: “Nondestructive Testing: Visual Testing”
